Burgundy Woods Michelle Rodriguez was raised by her mother and grandmother in a Mexican oriented neighborhood on the Southside of San Antonio, Texas. Fashion, Music and Learning were always ultimate loves in her life but as the product of a poor family and underfunded high school, the dream of going to college seemed unattainable. Upon receiving a vocal scholarship from The University of The Incarnate Word "Not until I traveled did I fully understand that fashion went beyond the pages of a magazine or what you saw on television. I came to realize that fashion is culture, identity, time, even territory. I've always believed that fashion is a non-verbal communication of self and soul. There is no other art form I know of that is as romantic, necessary and universal as the art of fashion." In 2004, she graduated as an Acheived McNair Scholar with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music & Business. She moved to Hollywood, California where she immediately began working in the music industry.
"My first jobs were at Interscope Later those years, moonlighting in film & television gained her an even broader sense of fashion while hanging out in the wardrobe departments of major film & television lots.
After attaining the funds needed to attend The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising
With her formal education in Fashion, Research, Magazine Article Writting and Business she aspires to continue learning and perfecting her craft through expiereince and collaborations with future professional fashion companies. "Although it has taken me about 10 years to finally get here, I feel lucky and so alive. I can't wait for the creative and corporate challenges that await me in the future and look forward to working in the fashion industry for the rest of my life." |
